pay more. Discount-hosting.com is the international department of a
long existing french discounter in hosting plans called hebergement-discount.com.
The price is made possible because we do not provide technical assistance,
nor options on the plan. You just take it or leave it.
What
happens if I do not follow your rules on my site during
the
trial month ?
Just the same as if you do so later : we immediately cancel your account.
Of course, you get back your domain name, so you can try another hosting
provider.
Reminder : Our rules are mainly :
No bandwidth overload (5 GB / month maximum)
No adult or erotic content.

Can I subscribe
for several trial months in a row with my domain name ?
No, sorry. Only one trial month is available for each domain name. If
your payment has not occured at the end of the trial, either you pay
and your account is back online, or you leave discount-hosting.com.
You cannot get another trial on this domain.
Can I buy my domain
name together with my discount-hosting plan ?
You can get your domain name from our registrar service on http://www.leregistrar.com.
Of course, you can get it elsewhere as well. But using leregistrar.com
will provide you with an easy way to configure correctly the DNS's.
Once you have your domain name, you may order your discount hosting plan.
Can I ask discount-hosting.com
to transfer my existing domain name on my account ?
No. You must have your DNS fixed on ns1.discount-hosting.com & ns2.discount-hosting.com & ns3.slconseil.com
yourself.
We will never proceed transfers for you. If your domain name account
or your registrar do not support this procedure, you are unable to use
discount-hosting.com.
Can I use a domain
name with a top level extension different from .com, net, org ?
Yes. but you must proceed yourself to get the correct DNS configuration
on the domain. Beware, some registrar demand that the hosting plan is
configured before changing DNS : this is not possible with discount-hosting.
Can I use my account
for business purposes ?
Of course, if your business is compatible with the low level of features
we provide on this plan.
Remember that you will never get additional options from us.
Can I use Microsoft
FrontPage on my discount-hosting plan ?
Yes, as long as you do not need FrontPage server extensions (i.e. no
webbots, or active components, or every other new name Microsoft will
give to the same feature).
Discount-hosting plan does not provide FrontPage server extensions and
will never do.
Do discount-hosting.com
provide a SMTP server ?
No. You have to use your ISP's SMTP server for your outgoing e-mail.
How do I configure
your DNS on my existing domain name ?
Almost every registrar allows you to change manually primary and secondary
DNS on your domain name record.
If you do not know who is your registrar, please feel free to use the
whois utility available on the site : http://www.discount-hosting.com.
When the record is displayed, just look up at the top area : you will
find your registrar's info, including its web site URL : just type this
URL on your browser and look for a link called like : 'domain manager',
'manage your account' or something approaching this meaning.
Once on the interface, just type on the proper fields the name and IP
address of the primary, then secondary and finnaly the tertiary discount-hosting DNS servers
:

Depending on your registrar's specific procedure, you may have to answer
a mail in order to validate the changes.
If your registrar does not support online form changes, or if you do
not succeed in the procedure, you may always e-mail to hostmaster@
and ask for a manual change.
REMEMBER that discount-hosting will NEVER help you in the transfer process
: if you do not succeed in changing your DNS, then you are unable to
use discount-hosting plan, unless you create a new domain name (with
correct DNS's) for this purpose.
So... help yourself.
And by the way : discount-hosting assumes that you are entitled to proceed
the above changes on your domain name. We will never accept complaints
on this matter. In case of such a complaint, the concerned account will
be cut off without prior notice, and complaint forwarded to the corresponding
registrar and to the provided customer e-mail address attached to this
account in our databases. So take care of your domain name manager login/password.
My domain name carries
a top domain extension different from .com, .net or .org : can I use
it on my discount-hosting plan ?
Yes, as far as discount-hosting is NOT required for proceeding any action
for installing correct DNS's on the domain name record (i.e. : discount-hosting
DOES NOT send confirmation, DOES NOT validate transfer, DOES NOT subscribe
every other agreement, and so on.) If your local registrar is unable
to complete a transfer by itself (you helping), you CAN NOT use discount-hosting.
I do not have my
domain name yet. Can I subscribe anyway and install it later ?
No. You MUST have an existing, correctly configured and useable domain
name to subscribe. Try http://www.leregistrar.com for instance.
I use cgi-bin scripts
on my site. Can I upload them onto my discount-hosting plan ?
This will be useless. There is no cgi-bin feature on discount-hosting
plans.
Even if you upload your scripts on your server, they will not run.
You may - if applicable - leave them on another hosting plan that you
already have and just invoke them with appropriate syntax from your
discount-hosting site.
Can I use e-mail
addresses using the domain name installed on my discount-hosting plan
?
Of course. Your discount-hosting.com plan comes with unlimited e-mail
addresses feature like :
any.name@domain-name.com
another-name@domain-name.com
and so on.
The point is that no e-mail account is hosted on the server : you must
redirect every address to your usual POP acount(s), e. g. the one(s)
given by your ISP.
Of course, should you change your ISP (thus your POP account(s) ID('s)),
you can change the redirection at any time with your discount-hosting
e-mail manager.
How do I use MySql
database ?
One MySql database is automatically created with your account.
You receive every useful information to use it on the mail issued upon
your account final creation.
Using these informations, you may use your PhpMyAdmin interface to manage
your database.
OK, I know everything
I need and am eligible for every condition. Let's get down to it. How
do I subscribe ?
2 steps :
1) You create your customer ID.
This is necessary to subscribe one or several plan(s).
An authentication login / password for your customer ID will be recorded.
These data are at your choice, be sure to keep them in a secure place.
To proceed, just follow instructions on the interface.
2) You order your plan by typing
the domain name you wish to install. The form will check wether the
DNS's are correct. If so, you complete the process and on the next business
day, you will receive at the client ID provided e-mail address a confirmation
mail showing the FTP address, login and password for uploading your
discount-hosting server.
If you are satisfied with discount-hosting service, feel free to pay
your US$10 annual fees. Of course, you have one whole month to do so.
